Mac & A.K. delivers their latest single “King of the Grind” on major platforms

Mac & A.K.’s first release of the year was “Gasoline“, which was well-received and is currently at 98,861 streams on Spotify. The newest single is “King of the Grind” and thus far has accumulated over 27,000 Spotify streams. It is the followup to their previous collaboration Don’t Play With ME” featuring King Cydal and Money $ Mont AKA Mr. Fetti. Mac & A.K. is a group consisting of fraternal twin brothers Eric “Mac Pacino” Gordon and Keith “A.K.” Gordon, hailing from East Palo Alto California in the San Francisco Bay Area. The two honed their craft under the backdrop of living in East Palo Alto, which in 1992 was the murder capital of the United States. Eric “Mac Pacino” first started in a group called Black Jack, which released their acclaimed album “Streets 2 Da Grave” on Ichiban records. Mac Pacino decided to leave the group and formed Mac & A.K. with his brother. The group would go on to sign with Tommy Boy Records based in New York, which at the time was a powerhouse in the hip hop scene with acts like Coolio, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, and House of Pain.

While on Tommy Boy Records, Mac & A.K. released their first EP “Westbound: For Riders” only on their imprint Streetlife Records. The 7 song EP was well-received and they also received a gold plaque for their song “Way 2 Saucy” featuring Mac Mall also from the Bay Area. Unfortunately, things did not work out at Tommy Boy and the group asked to be let out of their contract. The group formed E&K Music Group and released “Money Rhymes” as their first release. That single featured heavyweights like E-40, Mac Mall, Above The Law, and local legends like Chunk and Neva Legal. The second release was “Hustle Music,” which features The Game, Young Noble from the Outlaws, Chunk, Sean T, and other Bay Area Legends. The album was legendary and notably with high regard. Unfortunately, Mac died in 2013, and A.K. is single-handedly running the record label and releasing projects with E & K Music Group. CasoBaby realized his passion for making music from a young age. When he was a child, his cousin was making a beat on the table with pencils. He liked the sound they were making, and he started rapping to their beat. They told him how good it was and that was when he realized he wanted to create something out of it, so he started doing talent shows and competitions. When he lived in San Antonio, he started to perfect the art. When the musician is not making music, he works on making the most out of his time by spending it with his family and trying to help others. One of his favorite ways to make people feel good is by making them laugh. He paints the picture of real love with his everyday actions in real life.

Junior Walker, known as J.Walker of TLD, is a UK-based Christian rapper, songwriter, and producer. He is a solo artist and the foremost member of “The Lion’s Den”- the record label. At the age of 5, he had a troubled beginning in life leading to being in police custody. Growing up without a father around and in a household where drugs were being sold, he became a selective mute and increasingly withdrawn.

J.Walker of TLD’s experiences of struggle would go on to shape his musical influences as he clung to artists like 2Pac and Bob Marley for a sense of understanding of the world and how to navigate it. This was further nurtured after he met his father, a Reggae artist, DJ, and producer known as JUNIA Walker at the age of 9. He was able to get a unique insight into the music business and exposure to a large array of music. Being around artists such as Frankie Paul, Damian, and Stephen Marley made reaching the pinnacle of music success feel a lot more attainable.

J.Walker started rapping in college and released multiple singles and an album while still in college. The album was well received and released under the Jusic International record label. After winning numerous talent shows, a university music tour would then follow. The rapper performed on sets with Ed Sheeran but was taking his Christian faith increasingly seriously.

J.Walker of TLD This led to the artist changing the message of his music as it became increasingly informed by his faith. In 2011, he signed with the Gospel music label, Rock Steady Movement. This is where he was able to grow and develop as a Christian artist. Soon after, he would start his label, “The Lion’s Den.” The label allowed him to develop as a producer, working with multiple artists, and shaping different sounds around the Christian message.

His work got the attention of Christian rap blog Rapzilla and he would later also feature on the “A STEP FWD” Christian Chart.

He released a series of singles and videos while working alongside artists in the Christian music scene such as MC Tempo. The connection led to an appearance on the BBC1 show “Sunday Morning Live.” It proved to be a great moment for J.Walker and the Christian Hip-Hop scene as a whole.

Kang Neileo has been writing and recording music since the age of 16. The United Music Mafia artist and Clearwater native – born on August 20th, 1987 is the second child born to Terri Fox and Charles Williams. Although his parents divorced when he was the age of 5, his stepfather, Derrick Floyd helped raise him and his siblings. At the age of 10, Kang grew up in the housing neighborhoods of Clearwater until his family moved to Tarpon Springs, Fl.

At the age of 15, Kang was kicked out of the house and forced to the streets to sell drugs. During all of this, that’s where he discovered the talent of writing music and expressing himself through that. Shortly after, he was in a rap duo called “UBC” which stands for “Unborn Child.” His rap partner, Zoe had a development deal on the table with Slip n Slide Records. Due to Zoe’s incarceration, the deal never happened.

In 2007, Kang Neileo had to take a backseat to music to focus on life. Even though times were rough, Kang remained diligent in his craft. His style is cut from a different cloth, so reinventing himself as a more harmonic and melodic recording artist was the key. His biggest musical influences are 2Pac, Michael Jackson, Camoflauge, Trick Daddy, and Lil Wayne. Now, his comeback is bigger than ever and has given us the singles, “Believe and Jazzy.” The new single “Far Away” is about escaping your reality – getting away from all of the everyday struggles.

TrippCityRoyal grew up between Boston Mass and Buffalo New York listening to 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G.
